MSD Masters Orthodontics, Asian Applicant

My track record since entering university has been near-perfect. Countless accolades, awards, scholarships and memberships with professional organizations abound in my academic career.  It is this driven need for excellence that I bring to the field of Orthodontics.  Throughout my academic career spanning a decade, I have remained fully immersed in learning experiences that are fully relevant to my goals of orthodontic practice and research.

I especially love the way in which Orthodontics is such a rapidly changing field, with new technologies in orthodontic treatment as well as advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. I have stayed abreast of tremendous advancements over the course of the last eight years alone.  I find these changing times exciting and love to immerse myself in the intellectual and technical challenges of clinical orthodontics and research.  I am especially fascinated with how we can substantially alter the human face through growth alteration or with orthognathic surgery.  Compassionate care, kindness and a gentle hand have not changed, and I’m happy to say that I possess all three. I look forward, with great eagerness to beginning my career in the singularly most rewarding and enjoyable profession that I can imagine.

I particularly enjoy the way in which Orthodontists alter a person’s visage, and thus, their confidence, helping them to feel more comfortable in their skin.  Our faces determine an important part of our outlook, and sets the stage for our interactions with others.  But, moreover, correcting malocclusions improves a patient’s quality of life and health.  Whilst volunteering in the more socio-economically depressed communities in my homeland of Uzbekistan, I’ve seen firsthand the material benefit of the care, especially preventative care. I have reached out to socio-economically depressed communities and the underprivileged,  educating children in the benefits and rewards of good oral hygiene.  Any doctor knows that prevention is better than cure, and what better way than starting with children.

Born and raised in Uzbekistan, I have traveled to the most remote places and suburbs in my homeland and  provided dental services in a local hospital.  Upon graduating, I intend to share the experiences and knowledge I have with the people of developing nations.  I have seen first-hand the difficulties these countries have in establishing modern health care systems.  Additionally, to keep my education well-practiced, I have tutored math, physics, and chemistry; and ballet, just for fun.  I’ve found there’s no better way to educate oneself than to teach. Through an academic relationship with your school, I hope to be so much more than just a student, but an asset.  This is my life and chosen field.

My upbringing, the pride I have for my family, have all taught me to never squander the talents that God has given me. I thank you for considering my application to your especially distinguished Orthodontics Program at XXXX University.
